Madekwe was born South London, England into an ethnically diverse family. Her father is Nigerian and Swiss and the mother of her is English. She grew up in a south London community estate, where she attended The Brit School at age fourteen. She received her Bachelor of Arts in acting from The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. In her time at the school, she performed in a variety of stage productions such as King Henry V's princess Katherine as well as Wuthering Heights.
Madekwe started acting in Storm Damage. Since then, she's been making guest appearances for Teachers, Doctors Casualty Drop Dead Gorgeous. Madekwe's breakthrough came in 2007's Woody Allen film Cassandra's Dream. It was in the role of Colin Farrell (who played the role of Cassandra) as well as Ewan McGrath. Following this acclaim, she was cast as Elisha on the BBC Three drama pilot West 10 LDN and was featured for six seasons Trexx and Flipside. In 2008, she got Bambi's character on ITV2 Drama Series Secret Diary of a Call Girl. She appeared in both series 2 and 3. Madekwe also starred as the lead character in How to lose friends & make people feel alienated that was aired by Sony Pictures Entertainment 2008. Theatre credits for Madekwe include Little Sweet Thing and Flight Path.
Madekwe was chosen to play Ashley Davenport on the ABC show The Beautiful Life. The two-episode drama aired just the duration of two weeks The CW and then it ended. Ashley Davenport appeared in ABC drama Revenge in February of 2011. The show premiered in May 2013 and it was announced that Madekwe who had been a series regular in the past two seasons, would be leaving the show after a guest-appearance in the premiere episode of the season's new episode. On the show Salem the actress played Tituba from 2014 until 2016. Madekwe married her long-time partner, Iddo. Apart from Secret Diary of a Call Girl They have also collaborated in tandem on Salem and also he played a part alongside her in the show on TV.

Ashley Leggat grew up in Hamilton Ontario with a huge family. She was raised by her parents Roy and Patty along with four older brothers: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley grew in arenas or baseball fields because the four brothers who were athletic were hockey players, baseball players, and basketball in winter and summer. Ashley was never able to walk, but she danced. When she turned two-and-a-half she started Baby Ballet and fell in love. Ashley discovered a love for dancing shortly after she joined Baby Ballet. Ashley was a professional dancer across all major divisions up until her graduation from high school. She competed in jazz, tap, ballet, pointe and the acrobatics. Additionally, she was awarded top soloists awards in all major dance contests, like the International Dance Challenge, Showstoppers, 56-7-8 Showtime, Flash Dance, Dance, Dance, Dance, among others.
